 Will History Repeat Itself? (Again)

This is the greatest country in the world, and in my opinion, of all time.  We have more rights and freedom than any other country in history, and we owe it all to our men and women in uniform.  These people put their lives on the line for us each and every day so that we can do, say, and and act any way we want under the Constitution which is protected by these exceptionally fine folks.  Our duty to them is to, in my opinion,  thank and support them every chance we get and to uphold them with love, respect and honor.

Also, we need to take responsibility of our freedom by not taking advantage of it.  Disrespecting and abusing the uniform, government, freedom of speech, religion and our other freedoms and laws will be the downfall of our beautiful country.  History alone teaches us that.  It happened with the Greeks and their Spartans, the Romans with their Legions and on and on.  Let us not do the same, and let this country live on in truth, respect and honor.  GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR UNIFORMED LOVED ONES WHO DEFEND HER.

Scouting and Youth Leadership

I saw under "Suggested Links" that you say, "Support the Boy Scouts"  - You should support the Girl Scouts too.  The Girl Scouts are not all about doing craft projects and selling cookies, they are an organization that guides young girls to grow into tomorrow's  leaders.  Maybe the female counterpart should be listed.

When I was in elementary school, I wanted to join the Girl Scouts but the troops that were in my area only focused on craft projects and I didn't want to do keyring braiding every week.  I did, however, become involved in youth leadership through church youth group and school clubs.  These groups were tons of fun, and most of the time we didn't realize that we were doing "volunteer" work.  It was a great way to hang out with friends and make a difference in our community.  I am an advocate for youth leadership programs!

There are so many leadership opportunities for young people these days, I think that all students starting in elementary school should participate in Service Learning and Leadership as they grow up.  Why?  Because they learn to understand what it means to help others and be selfless,  giving time out of their lives without payment or physical reward.  Too many kids ask, "Well... what do I get out of it?"  The reward we gain is a greater self-worth and a better understanding of the huge, unique and diverse world around us.

So Proud!

I am so proud of you young man!

While reading the website on this Memorial Day, I found myself shedding tears.  Everyone has the right to hate war, but no one should have the right to denegrate our troops.  These are young men and women, barely out of their teens.  They are frightened and brave at the same time.  They are doing what they think is the right thing.  We should respect and thank them along with all those who have gone before them.

     May God bless them all!

 Just Some Thoughts

Soldiers are like weapons.  Until predators are finally extinguished, both will be needed.

Thank God for soldiers and patriots, people who realized their children's and family future depended on their service at the time of need.  Politics is a component of any war.  I hope your website will continue to sidestep the stupidity posted on other websites.

Common sense.  A thought I have.  Common sense is something, an idea or path that works to resolve a situation learned in the past.  Not, and I repeat, not reinventing the wheel and then standing there in amazement at your creation.  Common sense is thinking rather than using emotions or the thoughts of others as yours.  Something that is common in acadamia.

Just some thoughts.  Take care, and good luck.

   UnCommon Sense

First, I want to Thank You, sincerely, for your military service to America and for having this website to promote Common Sense!!  I miss common sense so I'm keenly aware of it being UNcommon and when I find it peeking out from behind something or someone, I get so happy.  Some rare people even have large shares of it.  I appreciate them and try to learn from them.  I have often wondered if there could be a political party created that is based on Common Sense but maybe that would be an oxymoron?  Do we need classes on Common Sense so students could be introduced to this concept that was prevalent in our parent's and grandparents' lives?

I believe, Common Sense has become so uncommon that it feels alien to many people.  Maybe the young folks who wouldn't take that fine poem about soldiers suffer from this.  They are a part of a generation who are learning from their schools, peers, homes, TV, media, music, Hollywood, sports, maybe even their Church, the destructive "nesses" like Political correctness, Anti-Americanness, Ivorytowerness, Anti-militaryness, Government should do everything for everybodyness, Disrespectfulness, Getting aheadness at any cost, Free-lunchness, Crime seems to pay-ness etc. etc.  So bombarded from all sides, how can these kids even begin to understand what Common Sense is?  Just to have any sense would be lucky, but to have it be a common attribute, you have to start by having a sound student and a teacher who taught critical thinking collide in the same classroom!

I was lucky, I grew up in a military family where patriotism was the norm and critical thinking was practiced.  My parents were great roll models for Common Sense because they used it often.  I'd like to learn what others think of Common Sense and ways we can spread it's use before it's too late.

Recently, I became aware of an area in America where it may be too late for Common Sense to ever reside.  The insanity demonstrated by Berkeley, California's treatment of the USMC recruiting office and it's personnel and other actions by the city "leaders", clues me in that the Mayor, City Council and the "Peace and Justice" Commission of that wayward city are too far gone to ever practice sound and meaningful judgment.  They aid and abet the Pink People and other Anti-American groups that tell us we don't need to worry about foreign enemies.

I have hope though, that enough of our "Practicing Americans" (General Chappie James, a Common Sense kind of patriot, used that term and I think it's great), will have enough Common Sense for those that don't or won't, and we can come out stronger and healthier as a nation.

For every one of those young kids who seemed alienated by the poem, there may be two or three who know a soldier personally, or have learned about our brave men and women in uniform from a Common Sense teacher or parent, and may even have aspirations to serve our country.  These kids are not the ones we hear about because they are quietly doing the things they need to do.

Good luck with the website.  I look forward to learning about that old fashioned American attribute called Common Sense.  Thanks for spreading the word that such a thing has and does and can continue to exist!!!

Thanks For The Website

Thanks for the website.  I've been feeling a lot of the same things you talk about on your website recently.  I see a lot of anti-American sentiment around.  A lot of people seem to focus on the negative and don't see the excellence in America.  I hear a lot of sentiment that sounds like people want the U.S. to be more socialist than capitalist and a lot of people that see Europe as the place to emulate.

As a veteran myself, it angers me to no end when I hear people tear down this great country.  Some folks just don't understand the importance of a strong military and the honor our servicemen and women deserve.  Some people think that people join the military because they can't get a "real" job or go to college.  How Sad!  They don't understand that some people feel a sense of responsibility to serve the U.S. - to fight to protect our freedom.  Where would we all be without them!  We need more people to stand up!
